Wine Enthusiast Magazine
Aug 27th, 2007 by Alana
A favorite wine magazine of mine is Wine Enthusiast. I find it balanced. There might be an editorial about cork versus screw-top or high alcohol vs low but I don’t sense a didacticism. I appreciate the tone of Wine Enthusiast; I think it comes across as open-minded, newsy, with a happy vibe. It says to me, here’s what’s new or fun, now you decide what you think about it.
Each issue focuses on a theme such as New World wines or what’s new with Rosés. I keep them and when I suddenly have an interest in wines from Spain (such as being invited to a paella party), I read up and go shopping.
Of course, each issue has wine ratings. A useful and fun section is budget wines that received high points. Trying these wines are fun, I love a bargain! While I usually concur with the Wine Enthusiast recommendations. this isn’t necessarily true with other magazines/critics…but that is another post…I believe matching your palate with reviewers is possible and at least a fun exercise to try.
I recommend the print magazine rather then trying to read it online. Having the magazines lying on a table with the enticing covers is a delightful reminder to continue my education.
Do you have other recommendations for good print wine magazines? How about online?
