Fixing Bad Soup

Aug 4th, 2009 by Alana

Pour a little wine in your soup if it needs improvement.

My sister, Rebecca, gave me this tip after finding herself at a really bad family-style restaurant on the Northern California coast.  Her companion liked the place. Faced with a tasteless soup that reminded her of gravy, she poured a little white wine in it, added salt and pepper, and she was able to visit with her friend without coming across as a “rude foodie”.
